Members, partners, and friends,

I hope all is well, wanted to give a quick note to check in an give you some updates.

-We are extremely excited about our new and growing relationship with the University of Southern California. We’re moving forward on two separate fronts. First, they co-hosted last month’s terrific meeting and really provided some useful information for our members, and you can expect more events like that in the future. Second, they are developing a program to increase DVBE and veteran owned business participation within their supply chain, so we’ll make sure to keep you informed on upcoming opportunities to work with them.

-Our Zoom meetings continue to grow and provide a lot of information to members, so check out the YouTube video if you missed it.

-USVBA is starting two simultaneous campaigns that dovetail nicely together. The first is a membership campaign, where we hope to increase our numbers significantly in the coming months. The second is a fund-raising campaign to allow us to continue to provide the quality information to our membership. In reality, the fund-raising is us reaching out to our partners, providing updates on what we’ve accomplished recently, and touching base on their integration efforts with our members.

-Lastly, we’ve partnered with several other veteran organizations to advocate for an update to the California DVBE legislation. AB 1574 removes the domicile requirement for DVBE’s, allowing for businesses with out of state partners to be eligible for certification.

Stay tuned for the latest events, we’re looking forward to a busy next few months.

Sincerely,

Daniel Connor
President, USVBA
