This requirement is for Temporary Staffing (approximately 240 days) for the VA Boiler Plant. The Phoenix VA Hospital requires the contractor to provide Temporary Staffing to work in the Boiler Plant and operate/maintain all boilers, chillers, cooling towers, closed loop heating and cooling systems at the Phoenix Arizona Veterans Affairs Health Care System in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Phoenix VA Health Care System, Carl T. Hayden Medical Center located at 650 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85012. It requires temporary staffing must be able to fulfill the below requirements:

Qualified Plant Operators and/or Boiler Tenders

  1. Operators must have AZ state Operating Engineers License
  2. Operator must successfully complete VA on-line Safe Steaming Boiler Plant Operations class within 10 shifts of receiving computer access
  3. Operators must be EPA certified
  4. Operators should be Journeyman certified on utility chillers
  5. Must be able to work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts     


Important information:  The Government is not obligated to nor will it pay for or reimburse any costs associated with responding to this source sought synopsis request.  This notice shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach.  The Government will in no way be bound to this information if any solicitation is issued. The VA is mandated by Public Law 109-461 to consider a total set-aside for Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business set aside. However, if response by Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business firms proves inadequate, an alternate set-aside or full and open competition may be determined. No sub-contracting opportunity is anticipated.
