STATEMENT OF WORK
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Philadelphia VA Medical Center, has a BRAND NAME or EQUAL requirement for a Thermo Scientific TSX ULT 400 80 Freezers. The purchase of 4 Ultra Low Temperature Freezers (-80C) for sample and reagent storage.
In research, sample quality preservation is necessary to obtain useful information from current studies. Ultra-low temperature freezers are one of the most optimal ways to easily store samples and reagents that are prone to degradation. There are many research samples that require ultra-low temperatures to prevent degradation or denaturation. These ultra-low temperature freezers are essential in a lab collecting samples, acquiring proteins, or primers, among many other supplies. With ongoing research comes an increase in the number of samples or supplies that may need ultra-low temperature storage. To keep up with demand incoming samples, more freezer space is needed.
The TSX is made to take up less room but with the same holding capacity which is good in small research labs that still need the storage for samples. The TSX is also similar to other equipment currently in the lab which will allow ease of use. It is designed to adapt to user patterns, substantially reducing energy and HVAC costs without compromising performance. With such
largescale experiments happening at the same time, it is necessary to have substantial space for sample storage.
Vendor will provide 6 of the following ultra-low temperature freezers that will include racks to hold sample boxes within the freezer:
